Урок-соревнование в 6 классе по теме "Спорт"

Competition-lesson plan for 6th form Topic: Sport

Aims:

  • to generalize the words;
  • to get a deeper knowledge on the topic;
  • to perfect hearing, speaking and writing skills on the topic;
  • to develop the creative fantasy and initiative of the students;
  • to raise the students’ interest to the learning of English.

Equipment: pictures with kinds of sport, photos of sport champions; paper with tasks 11 and 12; ten rings; a poster for the task «Staircase».

Ход мероприятия.

T1:Good morning, boys and girls! We'll speak about sport today. The slogan of the lesson is: Oh, sport! Oh, peace!

T2: We’ll have some kinds of competitions between two teams. These pupils are the judges. There are two teams here: SPARTAK and DINAMO. Kristina and Kristina are the team's captains. Let’s begin! Captains, introduce the members of your teams to us.

Acquaintance (Капитаны кратко рассказывают о членах команд)

T1.: Thank you, captains! Is sport important in our life? Captains, try to convince everybody here that sport is important.

S1: Sport builds character.

S2 : It teaches us about life.

S1: Sport makes men out of boys.

S2: Sport helps people to become good friends.

S1: Sport helps to meet people.

S2: To have a healthy mind you must have a healthy body.

S1: It helps to work of your extra energy.

S2: It teaches you to win and to lose.

S1: It makes you strong.

S2: It teaches you to be disciplined.

S2: It helps to study at school well .

S2: It is the main aim of the life.

T2: The next task is to ask each other questions about sport.

  • What is your favourite sport?
  • Do you like to play tennis?
  • Are you a football fan?
  • You like swimming, don’t you?
  • Who is the strongest in your class?
  • Do you run fast?
  • Can you skate?
  • Do you play basketball?
  • Do you do your morning exercises?
  • What sport do you go in for?

T1: Two pupils of each team come to me, please. You have to describe a kind of sport to the teams. And you children, try to guess.

S1: Running.

This sport is for everybody. You can go in for it in summer and winter. You need just a sport dress. You can train in the park, at the stadium, in the street,

S2: Hockev.

This is a winter sport. It is played on an ice. The players have a stick and one puck.

S3: Swimming.

You need a pool, water and a rubber hat for this sport.

S4: Football.

A round ball is used in this game. Two teams of 11 players kick it. There are not allowed to handle the ball.

S5: Rowing, It is a sport of riding the different sorts of boats.

S6: Tennis.

You can play this game in the gym or on the court. You need a partner, a small ball, a net and two small bats.

S7:Basketball. The ball in this game has to be thrown into a basket fixed to a pot.

S8: Figure-skating.

This is a winter sport. It can be individual and pair. The sportsmen dance on the ice.

T2: Let’s speak about the world greatest international sport games are known as the Olympic Games. Answer my questions, please! Your answers must be quick and correct.

S1: The first Olympic Games were in 1896 in Greece.

2) What is a symbol of the Olympic Games?

S2: A symbol of the Olympic Games is five linked rings. They represent five parts of the world: Europe, America, Australia, Africa and Asia.

S3: In 1980 in Moscow.

4) When and where were the winter Olympic Games in Russia?

S4: In 2014 in Sochi.

5) What was a symbol of the Sochi Olympic Games?

S5: They are the bear, the hare, the Cheetah.

S6: The Olympic Games are held once every four years?

7) Where and when will be the next winter Olympic Games?

S7: The next Olympic Games will be in 2018 in South Korea.

8) Who was Pierre de Coubertin?

S8: Pierre de Coubertin was a founder of the modern Olympic Games.

9) What is the motto of the Olympic games?

S9: It is –“Citius, altius, fortius” – higher, faster, harder.

10) Who was the first Chuvash Olympic champion from Chuvashia?

S10: It was a boxer Valeriy Sokolov in 1968.

T1:Your next task is to complete sentences: affirmative, negative, irrigative. (в конвертах словах). Now, tell about your favourite sport.

S1: Football.

For me football is much more interesting than music or video. But I’m not just a football, I’m a player as well. I practice my skills every day in the yard. I train hard twice a week and on Sunday. I have been playing for nine years now, and I’d like to become a professional.

S2: Hockey.

I’m fond of hockey. I’ve loved hockey since I was 3 years old. Though I’ m not good at playing I know everything about hockey, teams and players I enjoy watching the game. I hope to become a referee when I’m an adult

S3: Figure-skating.

I love figure-skating more than anything I skate 4 times a week and I never get bored of skating. Ice, music, dance - it's nice a fairy tale. I have a wonderful coach, I’d like to become a champion and then a coach too.

S4: Ski.

My favourite sport is skiing, that’s why I like winter. In winter I ski fast every day. And on Saturday or Sunday all my family go to the park to ski. This year I took part in the competition The Ski-run of Russia.

S 5: Running.

And I like to run. I’m the fastest runner in my class. I take part in all competitions in school. At September my Mends and I took part in the «Cross-country-race of the Nation». I like to watch the events of the Olympic Games and get a real joy of it.

S6: Swimming.

I’m fond of swimming. I go to the swimming-pool twice a week. I prefer to relax by the lake or the river in summer. I also like diving. This sport makes me strong and healthy,

S7: Weight-lifting.

I’m fond of weight-lifting. I think that it helps me in different ways. Sport builds my character. It teaches to win and to lose. I ‘m a professional, I train 3 times a week in a sport club.
